Kawartha Credit Union Wins Central 1’s Amplifi Award For Innovation

On September 9th, Central 1 announced the winners of its first annual AmpliFI Awards at its Momentum 2019 conference. The Awards recognize and celebrate the exceptional work and results by financial institutions across Canada in an increasingly competitive market.

The AmpliFI Awards honour organizations who have focused on delivering an innovative technology-focused solution, developed customer acquisition strategies, or who have given back to their community beyond a monetary contribution. Kawartha won the Innovation Award which recognizes the innovative way our Mobile Solutions Centre enhances service delivery and the member experience.

Kawartha is the first credit union in Ontario to offer financial services through a mobile branch. The custom-designed Mobile Solutions Centre has two purposes: to assist some communities who have lost their financial institution and to provide banking services to members while a branch is being renovated or is temporarily unavailable.

While our fully accessible Mobile Solutions Centre does not carry cash for day-to-day transactions, it has an ATM for cash withdrawals and deposits (including U.S. currency), tablets for member use, and two private offices for in-depth conversations. Our experienced staff are on hand to provide expert investment advice, arrange a mortgage, loan or line of credit, and assist with any other financial needs,” commented John Finnie, Kawartha’s Chief Operating Officer.

Adds Robert Wellstood, Kawartha’s Chief Executive Officer; “We are thrilled to receive this AmpliFi Award for Innovation and be recognized among our peers. The genesis of our Mobile Solutions Centre was to provide financial services to under-served communities. It is rewarding to see that we can be innovative while at the same time providing much-needed financial solutions to communities around our branch network.”
